Later still, the same room, the same jinx

Idle fingers diddle while the lamp blinks

Desk lamp low, technique worked slow

Parallel walls where the long halls go

A doorway drawn like a border line

The clock keeps regulation time

A shaft of sun sabotages the shade

The kick keeps bashing, the snare won't fade

Vesper hour, the window turns to rust

A distant mob, muffled into dusk

Light runs out, the room a cavity
